Cool promotion
After decades of popsicle promotions that included prizes printed on the stick, Brazilian ice-cream company Kibon has taken it to a new level by including the actual prize inside the popsicle: they will manufacture 10,000 specially made propsicles, identical in size and color to the actual thing, frozen with iPod shuffles inside.
They started to think about it back in March with the objective of putting the shuffles directly in the hands of the prize-winner. "It works like this: the consumer buys an Fruttare popsicle which comes in 10 different fruit flavors," Neto told us, "and may find an iPod Shuffle inside the package," ready to play. However, since people would be able to tell that an iPod is inside by looking at the package itself, they had to find an alternative. The popsicles with prize inside had to be exactly the same as the regular popsicles. The obvious solution was putting the shuffles inside a real popsicle, but this was ruled out as the humidity would have destroyed the shuffle in no time, even with plastic around it. The other idea: a fake ice cream that looked exactly like the real thing. "We developed a special prototype that emulates the real ice cream;" company's representative says, "it protects the iPod from humidity, and it feels like the real ice cream. It is virtually impossible to fell the difference without opening the package." Their testing proved successful.
Plus they will get by post of the ipod's manual and warranty plus a coupon that they can get the ice-cream in the same flavor as the fake one!!!

Britney's new album is unexpectedly good
It's kind of crazy but I do like the new album of Britney Spears "Blackout" and it seems that I'm not the only one. Most of the critics are positive and why not? Her album is full of future hits. The sound is fresh and different and even her voice sounds awkwardly decent for her standards. The quality of the whole package makes me wonder if she helped at all in its creation...

After a long time of "no-posting" it's time to return back to action. As a soldier (serving my country -Greece- in the Air Force) I had to be away from my base and be trained for Air Force policeman. I successfully graduated and from now on you will be able to see more interesting news, videos and photos from what interests me (if you will browse this blog you will see what I mean by that).
No more talking, let's continue blogging! -this was "cheezy"...

Is America right to demonise President Ahmadinejad of Iran?
Because of the furore surrounding the visit of President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad to New York for the UN general assembly session. He was greeted by headlines in the New York tabloids which screamed "The Evil has Landed" and "Madman Iran Prez".
How did he do?
He set out the policy of Iran's "peaceful" nuclear programme, and responded to questions about his troubling statements concerning his denial of the Holocaust and on seeking the destruction of Israel. But he destroyed his own credibility by asserting, in response to a question, that "in Iran, we don't have homosexuals like in your country".
So was the US right to try to silence him?
Of course not. The president of Columbia University, Lee Bollinger, undermined his own case for freedom of speech in his insulting introduction in which he described the university's guest as exhibiting "all the signs of a petty and cruel dictator" and expressed the hope that Mr Ahmadinejad would not remain in office.
he personal insults aimed at the Iranian president during his New York visit could also end up increasing his popularity at home, rather than the reverse.
s he convincing on the nuclear issue?
Yes, actually. He noted that Iran is within its rights under the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty to develop nuclear energy for peaceful purposes. He argued that Iran needs to be self-reliant in producing its own nuclear fuel for energy because it had been let down by several western suppliers since the days of the Shah.
Is the US likely to attack Iran?
Yes...
* Sanctions won't stop Iran from pursuing uranium enrichment
* President Bush has promised that he won't leave office without solving the Iran problem
* US air power can be freed up to strike Iranian targets, despite military involvement in Iraq and Afghanistan
No...
* The US is too bogged down in Iraq and Afghanistan to free up military resources for such an offensive
* Economic sanctions need time to work, and there can be a diplomatic solution if the UN security council is united
* Iran could harm US interests across the Middle East by retaliating in case of military action

Too much sleep as dangerous as too little: study
Sleeping too much, just like sleeping too little, could be linked to a person's risk of an early death, a new British study indicates.
With seven hours seen as the optimal amount of sleep for the average adult, the study subjects who cut the duration of their sleep from seven hours to five hours a night had a 1.7-fold increased risk of death from all causes within the ensuing 11-17 years, according to the research. They also had twice the increased risk of death from a cardiovascular problem.More surprisingly, scientists found those individuals who increased the number of hours they slept per night from seven to eight hours or more were more than twice as likely to die within 11-17 years as those who kept sleeping for seven. They were more likely to die from non-cardiovascular diseases.
The World's Weirdest/Stupidest Conspiracy Theories
- The driver shot JFK.
- The Beatles were designed and sent to the U.S. by the British Psychological Warfare Division, to undermine the morals of American teenagers.
- Christ's Crucifixion was staged. Christ eloped with Mary Magdalene, and one or both of them fled to France to raise their family.
- HIV/AIDS was created in a lab.
- Man never landed on the moon. It's not even possible. But there is an alien base there.
- Stephen King killed John Lennon.
- WWII was staged. It never really happened. The Illuminati employed elaborate special effects, stage magic, and phony journalism to scare the world into pacifism.
- Queen Elizabeth I was a man. The real Elizabeth died as a child.
- The 1939 War of the Worlds radio broadcoast was a psychological warfare study funded by C.D. Jackson on behalf of the Rockefeller Foundation, designed to find out how Americans would react to an enemy invasion. Funny... in a trailer for his mockumentary F is for Fake, Orson Welles did say the WoW broadcast had "secret sponsors".
- A really old one that just won't die: Jews drink the blood and eat the flesh of Gentile children during Passover. Some Catholics still revere the relics of Medieval child saints supposedly slaughtered and devoured by Jews.
- The doomed Franklin Expedition was sent to the Arctic not only to find the Northwest Passage, but to secretly investigate UFO sightings that had been reported since the 1700s. The men were captured, experimented upon, and eaten by giant aliens.
- Hitler and some associates escaped to the Arctic in a submarine, to live with super-advanced aliens who reside within the hollow earth.
- Scientology: Billions of years ago the intergalactic overlord Xenu used a film to brainwash our souls ("Thetans") into believing in the world's major religions, which he invented.
- Gnosticism: The entire material world is an evil trap created by the imposter God of the Bible.
- Jesuits sank the Titanic to kill some of the world's richest, most powerful Jews.
- Aspartame, flouride, genetically modified foods, and vaccines are used specifically to keep us sick and open to suggestion, and/or as part of a secret depopulation plan designed by the world's elite.
Columbia President Bollinger Introduces Ahmadinejad
Just watch it... America's hospitality is outrageously ridiculous and dangerous. Ridiculous is the guy that speaks in this video and dangerous are the supporters of the massacres of the US all these years. Iran is not "clean" but US is far more dangerous for the world than them. Why a flawed nation (as Iran is) cannot have a nuclear program (or even atomic bombs) while a more flawed and dangerous for the global peace US can have whatever they want? Since when they can judge and not be judged?

Barcelona's Camp Nou set for redevelopment
The new plans mark the arena's third major upgrade. First opened on 24 September 1957, to replace the old Les Courts Stadium, the new-look Camp Nou will boast a dramatic Antoni GaudÃ-inspired façade and is being reworked by English architect Sir Norman Foster. "It's a personal project," said Foster, who also designed the new Wembley Stadium. "I have based this on three inspirations: football, the city of Barcelona and Catalunya, and Barça.
The stadium will have ten extra levels, using a cable structure which will protect spectators from the wind and rain but it will be flexible to allow sunlight on to the pitch. President Joan Laporta and his board have now decided it is time for a complete face-lift, the most dramatic feature of which will be the spectacular exterior, with blue, yellow and red panels coating the stadium, while capacity will rise again to 104,000. from uefa.com

Echochrome
In Echochrome, Sony's wacky new puzzle game for PlayStation Network and PSP, things are not as they seem. Or rather, they are as they seem, but only until you change the camera angle.
The idea is to "follow the echo", a little smoky outline that appears at different points along the solid white beams and pillars that make up the abstract levels, but you don't literally control your character - instead, you rotate the camera to change the rules governing the surfaces he/she/it is walking along, and in doing so the character's path is altered. from eurogamer.net

Greek PM wins again!
George Papandreou's socialist Pasok party trailed Mr Karamanlis's New Democracy party by nearly four percentage points.
With 99% of the votes counted, New Democracy's majority has been cut to 152 seats in the 300-seat parliament.
Pasok had 38.1% of the vote giving it 102 seats and Mr Papandreou is under pressure to resign for failing to capitalise on criticism of the government's response the forest fires.Mr Karamanlis told his supporters that the party had been given a "clear mandate" to continue reforms.
"I feel doubly responsible to be more effective and avoid mistakes," he said. from bbcnews.com

Wild monkeys!
The monkeys are more afraid of young men than women and children, and the bolder ones throw stones and chase the women from their farms. Nachu's women have tried wearing their husbands' clothes in an attempt to trick the monkeys into thinking they are men - but this has failed, they say.
"But the monkeys can tell the difference and they don't run away from us and point at our breasts." The monkeys grab their breasts, and gesture at us while pointing at their private parts. We are afraid that they will sexually harass us," said Mrs Njeri.

The Bourne Ultimatum
There is one movie that you need to watch this summer and this is the 3rd in the series of Jason Bourne, "The Bourne Ultimatum". The movie exceeds expectations (as the critics agree) of how an action film should be. The action is extremely fast and continuous without leaving you much chances of taking some breath but it misses all this spying features of its past (as James Bond still does).

Cat senses death...
Animal behaviour experts in the US say Oscar is probably smelling a chemical given off by the body. And Jacqueline Pritchard, an expert in animal behaviour in the UK, agrees the explanation is biochemical, rather than psychic. "I don't doubt that the cat in this case is sensing death approaching. There's little we really know about it but as the body is shutting down, I could hypothesise that the cat is sensing and smelling the organs shutting down." Dogs, in the other hand, with an acute sense of smell and awareness are known to detect cancer and predict epileptic seizures.

Buildings from the future
(picture in the right)
Stata Center: Iconic architect Frank Gehry was employed to build this, a modern centrepiece to the campus of the Massachussets Institute of Technology. Full of angles and empty spaces, the building appears to be collapsing into itself before reaching up into two independent towers. And if the building itself isn't advanced enough for you, then look inside: it is home to the university's Computer Science and Artificial Intelligence Lab. Photograph: Stan Honda/AFP (picture in the left)
Bank of China: This 1,034 foot tall tower is instantly recognisable in Hong Kong for its sloping roof. At the lower levels the building is rectangular, before switching to a triangular shape as it stretches upwards. Designed by IM Pei, the structure boasts an award-winning sustainability programme and environmentally-friendly operation.
Photograph: Michael Setbourn/Getty (picture in the right)
InterActive Corp: Frank Gehry is best known for swooping metallic structures such as the Guggenheim Museum in Bilbao - but his latest creation is one of his most technically advanced. Housing the offices of IAC, a large web conglomerate, the outside is made entirely of glass - a decision which required "cold bending" of huge panes, sometimes up to a 150 degree angle. Photograph: Mario Tama/Getty (picture in the left)
Taipei 101: The 101-storey green giant in Taiwan is decked out with hi-tech baubles: fibre-optic and satellite net connections and the world's fastest lifts (they shoot up at 37 miles per hour). But perhaps most impressive is the 660 tonne ball of steel that hangs down inside the building from the 92nd floor. The mass damper, which hangs on a pendulum, is built to steady the building in extreme winds.

One year to go
Most of the stadiums and the structures needed are ready and China will open the games in a very interesting stadium called "Bird's nest" (picture in the right).
The mascots of the games are five and their colors represent the respective colors of the Olympic circles. Altogether they called "Fuwa" but their names... Bei Jing Huan Ying Ni, altogether means "Welcome to Beijing"! (picture below)
"Milk or gold?" China says: "I'll better take the first"
"I have a dream to provide every Chinese, especially children, sufficient milk each day" ... said the Chinese Premier Wen Jiabao but what's wrong with that? Except that it sounds like a dream from another century it will may shift the prices of milk elsewhere in the planet:
According to the UN Food and Agriculture Organization, China's consumption of milk has gone from 26 kilocalories per person per day in 2002 to 43 in 2005. Westerners consume many times more, but their demand is stable. from bbcnews.comYou see, China's population adapts new habits that may cause "seismic shifts elsewhere".
